Apropos Kathleen recommending shows. There’s a series on Disney called “Morning Wars”. For an American show it’s nuanced and runs deep. It’s main spine is sexual exploitation of women in the media a lá Weinstein..... and there are lesbians. Steve Carroll does a superb job of portraying the charismatic predator
I’ve been watching anything and everything cult related for years. Now I feel triggered every time I watch cult documentaries because I feel women are excluded. Women really can’t be cult leaders because people don’t look up to them for sage advice like they do men. I think there’s kind of evolutionary sexism at work here.
I think I’d make a very good cult leader but I feel like I’d have to be a man to do it. Women are totally turned on by the spiritual daddy type man. What can we do to fix this?!
Can’t say I agree with that. In my book, Most women don’t have the insane narcissistic egoism of men. Most women aren’t turned on by power over psychologically passive squirmers. Wouldn’t you get bored if you couldn’t have a half decent conversation ?
I just finished listening to this convo between Kathleen Stock and Ayaan Ali: https://youtu.be/hlLy9DXCF3U. I realized I’d only grasped a third of it (or less) the first time around. I would love it, if in a future podcast, Kathleen and Julie invited her as a guest and continued and deepened/complicated the discussion Ayaan and Kathleen had. In particular, I would love a deep dive into issues related to postmodernism generally, and CRT, specifically, as it relates to both college student responses to Israel/Palestine and what the interface/cross-pollination may be between CRT and queer theory.
My oh my. Over the years I’ve kinda settled in to the belief that lesbians are the best of humanity and then you drop this into my previously comfortable lesbian lap? I can hear my screws and sprockets testing realignment.
Is it naive to believe that lesbians get involved with each other on an equal power base? Are women who pay for women breaking the covenant?
Are they lonely? Are the recipients desperate? Does a money arrangement benefit both or is it exploitative?
Let’s face it - a lot of lesbians, ( and in the 70’s this meant lesbian women’s liberationists) past their prime, are unattached, financially comfortable from a life time of self supporting work, often in education, health, government, environment, dedicated in some way to improving everyone’s lot- now they are retired, alone, not the fit hot young spunky lesbian they once were. It’s appealing to consider hiring a companion for on the road - because camping isn’t a doddle anymore. Or sharing a king bed in a posh hotel for the warmth and conversation.
Curiouser - Barclays blocked my payment to you for 48 hours. I would have had to phone them to get it cleared - and they didn't alert me. I haven't had this problem with other stacks. There are rumours of payment processors getting political with which payments they approve or not... I hope you are not affected.

Morally interesting
Thank you both, from a NE London lezzer!
There was a murderous lesbian cult leader in South Africa.. https://youtu.be/MJRwOVAuXoU?si=I4tP803if1J7E8dp
I'm a stone(ish) femme, can't believe I'm the only one?
I can't get the audio or video to play at all. Is there another link? (To be honest this seems to happen a lot on Substack?)
Sorry to hear this. Just to be clear, do you mean that when you click here, nothing happens? https://www.thelesbianprojectpod.com/p/2-stone-butches-sugar-mummies-and#details If so please email support@Substack.com You can also get the audio on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast apps too.
Yes that's right. When I click either of the play icons nothing happens. No worries I will listen on Spotify.

Not anytime soon, no! Mainly because at least one of us hated it... guess which.
